The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has engaged AMN Healthcare to conduct a national search for their next Chair, Department of Surgery. The Chair will be a collaborative and visionary leader who understands how to drive change and lead an efficient and effective Surgery Department with the highest standards of clinical outcomes and research impact in a complex and dynamic environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to operate as a visionary leader and drive change in a complex patient-centered, mission-driven, academic environment, providing leadership and oversight over the academic and clinical growth of a nationally recognized and clinically excellent and NIH-funded department (ranked #55 among surgical departments in 2021 by Blue Ridge). Reporting to the Dean of the College of Medicine, the Chair will also play a strategic leadership role in the pursuit of NCI designation for the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center. Opening Spring 2023, a new, state-of-the-art surgical building will feature 8 operating rooms, pre/post anesthesia care units, and additional Emergency Room capacity.
The new Department Chair must be an inclusive, equitable leader and a talented surgeon whose passion for educational, clinical, and research missions energize the faculty, staff, and learners and provides a focal point for team-based collaboration across the Department and the College of Medicine. Within the Department, the Chair will promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency, dedication to recruitment, retention, and professional development of an excellent, diverse faculty — and a commitment to improved business operations, efficient and effective use of resources, and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving strategies. In collaboration with University of Cincinnati leaders, the Chair will focus on growth and value-based care including highest quality, best care experience, equitable access, and efficiency.
